March 24th Meeting - Senses

At this brownie meeting we learned about senses. We had four different
groups, smell, sight, feel and last but not least sound.
In sound we would listen to a noise and would have to name it. In smell you would
have a blindfold around your eyes and there would be a little cup that would have
something in it and we had to guess what was in it. In feel there would be a bag
that would have all different things in it and we would have to guess what was in
the bag. In sight there would be a piece of paper that you would have to say what you saw. And that is what we did in brownies for this meeting.

From Lauren.

Mini Sleepover

On March 21, Mrs. Reiber hosted a Mini Sleepover for our entire troop. The girls showed up in their PJs and had a great time painting nails, playing tons of sleepover games and enjoying pizza and ice cream sundaes.

Cookies for the troops

During our cookie sale this year, our troop collected money for boxes of Girl Scout Cookies for our soldiers serving overseas. Over 30 boxes were donated to this worthy cause! Great job girls. I'm sure our cookies were enjoyed by many hardworking men and women who were excited to have something so familiar that represented their home country. Here is the thank you given to us from the sister of a soldier serving in Iraq who was generous enough to ship the cookies for us:

"I can't wait to send them. The guys and girls are going to love them! Thank you so much again for all you and your troop have been doing."

Fun with Origami

On March 10,2009 we spent time working on our Numbers and Shapes Try It. We folded frames and made secret letters. When I got home I spent more time practicing the secret letter so I could send it to more friends. This was a very fun meeting. Katy

Brownies CARE

On February 28, our Brownie troop teamed up with Daisy troop 739 for a field trip to the Cape Animal Referral & Emergency Center in South Dennis. Dr. Blake and Dr. Kaser gave us tours of the facility's exam rooms, surgery area, xray machines, patient care/monitoring room and the isolation room. The girls got to practice bandaging each other's arms and dressing up in surgical gear. We got to meet chickens, rabbits, a lamb, some doves and a dog who had a few too many pieces of chocolate (but was recovering nicely). We also saw an xray of a dog who swallowed a rock and had to have surgery. We then enjoyed a video of Dr. Blake's care of exotic birds. They provided us with cookies and refreshments afterwards. We brought donations for their Sampson Fund (fund for people who can't afford the veterinary care) and blankets and towels for the animals who come in. We also gave them some boxes of cookies to say thanks for the tour. Thanks Dr. Blake and Dr. Kaser! We really learned a lot!!!

After our field trip we headed to Burger King for lunch. Yum!
